Story of a true art lover
Bonium Thokchom is a former shumang leela artist, a prominent singer and an actor in Manipuri film industry and a philantropist. Making his debut as a singer in 2014, he has delivered a number of songs most of which are public’s favourites.
After gaining recognition from local plays like “Melody” and “Pizza 2”, he rose to fame in the field of Manipuri Cinema through Herojit Naoroibam’s “Meerang Mahum” and “Nangna Nokpa Yengningi”. Bonium also founded an NGO “Back the Pillars Foundation” in 2018 to support the underprivileged children. His contribution in the field of art, culture and humanitarian service is appreciable.
Acknowledging the immense contribution in the field of art and culture and humanitarian service, Bonium has been conferred with many prestigious awards from different organisations of the state, national and international – including “Best Actor Award”, “Best Male Playback Singer”, “Global Achiever’s Award”, “Thai Friendship Award” and “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Award”.

Entered shumang leela
Bonium entered into the Shumang Leela scene with high end productions like Brindavan Chtlamdai, Eigi Iswar, Wrong Number, Kunti 7, Leishabi Machu, Nungsiba Thiba, Dharmagi Langdai, Melody, Pizzaa 2 and Neirehe
2014
First break in singing
He got his first break in singing with the song “Engao Ngaojabi” in which he also acted. He won the Best Actor Award for the same music video at the 2nd Manipur State Level Music Video Album Festival.
2014
First break in films
Bonium got his big break with Herojit Naoroibam in the films Meerang Mahum & Nangna Nokpa Yengningi. He won the Best Male Playback Singer for a song in the film Nangna Nokpa Yengningi in the 5th SSS MANIFA 2016.
2015
BTF Launched
Bonium launched his film production company under the name and style BTF (Bonium Thokchom Films)
2018
"Back the pillars Foundation" established
As apart of his humanitarian work, Bonium founded “Back the Pillars Foundation”, an NGO working for underprivileged children focussing on health and education.
